CFR MEETING

A public meeting will be held on Monday night, November 6, in Manorhamil­ton’s Bee Park Community Centre at 7.30 p.m. to establish a Community Cardiac First Responder (CFR) group in the local region.

Dr Prakash Shreshtha will make a presentati­on on Heart Health and related issues at the November 6 public meeting in the Bee Park Community Centre. HSE Community Engagement Officer will give a presentati­on on the night on how to set up set up as Community First Responder (CFR) group in the local region.

Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. Their aim is to reach a potential life threatenin­g emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

The Community First Responders role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriat­e care including defibrilla­tion till the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on the scene to take over treatment.

BORDERLAND­S CHOIR’S

The highly successful and popular former Manorhamil­ton Southern Gospel Choir, which was set up four years ago by Rev Brendan McCarthy, has been recently re-establishe­d as the Borderland­s Southern Gospel Choir.

The Borderland­s Southern Gospel Choir will have a new cross-border focus in the North Leitrim, West Cavan and West Fermanagh areas. The re-launch of the former Manorhamil­ton Southern Gospel Choir as the Borderland­s Southern Gospel Choir will place in the Glens Centre on Friday night, November 3, at 8 p.m.

All the members of the former Manorhamil­ton Southern Gospel Choir are invited to come along to the Glens Centre on Friday night week for their choir’s re-convening as the Borderland­s Southern Gospel Choir and a practice session. As always, new members will be most welcome on the night.

NICOLE’S SCHOLARSHI­P

When the recent Leitrim Joise Martin Third Level Education Credit Union scholarshi­p recipients were announced, Nicole Speers was named as this year’s Manorhamil­ton winner.

Following her success a compliment­ary message was issued to Ms Speers by the local credit union which read ‘congratula­tions to Nicole Speers from Manorhamil­ton, who is the winner of the Joise Martin scholarshi­p for €1,000 sponsored by Manorhamil­ton and District Credit Union and Leitrim County Enterprise Fund.

‘Good luck with your studies Nicole from all at the Credit Union. Thanks to all who entered’ the Manorhamil­ton and District Credit Union congratula­tory message concludes.

BALLAGH CENTRE

Among the events taking place currently in Rossinver’s Ballagh Centre are knitting and crochet classes, starting on Wednesday, November 1, at 2 p.m., while free digital skills classes (complete beginners computer classes) are also scheduled, as well as art and conversati­onal Irish. BELFAST BUS

A bus will travel from Kinlough and Manorhamil­ton to Belfast on Saturday, November 24, and it will provide an opportunit­y for all travelling to visit Belfast’s popular Christmas Market at City Hall, as well as other city centre attraction­s. JIVING CLASSES

Weekly Jiving classes are continuing tonight Wednesday, November 1, in Newtownman­or Hall, 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. Anyone can dance, so come along to Newtownman­or Hall; with practice you will be dancing like you never danced before.
