WESTERN DRAMA FESTIVAL
TUBBERCURRY will be hosting the popular One Act Drama Festival in November in St Brigid’s Hall.
The Western Drama Festival committee are busy preparing for the 2017 One Act Drama Festival which is running from Thursday, November 16 th until Saturday, November 18th.
There is an excellent programme of plays from the top groups in the country. The adjudicator for this year’s festival is Mr Ciaran McCawley.
There’s something for everyone so put the dates in your diary. Tickets will be available on the door.
The Western Drama Festival was set up in 1944 and since then has been hosting top-class productions from amateur drama groups across Ireland.
DANCE LIKE A ZOMBIE
As part of the Mad Hatter’s Children’s Festival, Dance like a Zombie a special workshop aimed for children, comes to the Hawk’s Well, on Tuesday, October 31st.
Join Carole Frères in a devilish dance workshop this Halloween where you will slide and float in a manner that would make phantoms pale with envy and reveal through dance the wildest creature you dream to be.
Who knew shuffling like a skeleton, leaping like a lunatic or cavorting like a corpse would be so much fun!
Suitable for ages 7-10 years. Duration is 2 hours.
PHIL COULTER IN GURTEEN
Legendary singer/songwriter Phil Coulter is coming to St Patrick’s Church, Gurteen, on Sunday, November 12 th.

KUBE FUNDRAISER
The Bit O’ Red Supporters Trust, in co-operation with Sligo Rovers FC are delighted to announce the hosting of the Kube fundraiser in the Clayton Hotel on November 25 th at 8pm.
Entry on the night to the event is €10 with all proceeds going towards assisting the youth development sides at the club. Doors will open at 7:15pm.
Participants in the Kube will each play 2 games in their round with the two fastest players proceeding to the semi-finals. The Kube has a winner takes all prize of €2,000.

THE MODEL CINEMA
The Model Cinema season is currently running with some excellent films in store from a range of genres. The Model cinema, in partnership with Sligo Film Society, brings audiences the best in international and independent film. Membership and tickets for individual screenings are available through Sligo Film Society prior to each screening.
This Thursday’s film is the Danish/German film Land of Mine, which follows the story based around the end of the German occupation of Denmark.
A group of young POWs are assigned to neutralise and remove 45,000 landmines the Nazis planted in return for being granted their freedom.
Based on true events, this is a tense look at the inhumanity of war and how people can find our way back from it. Showing at 8pm.
The following week it’s the film Neruda, a Spanish/German movie about the poet Pablo Neruda, who iswell known for his sublime love poems, but this film brings to the foreground Neruda’s political poetry.
Membership for the season is €80, or you can pay €8 on the evening.

CYCLE AGAINST SUICIDE BALL
The Diamond Coast Hotel in Enniscrone is hosting the third annual Cycle Against Suicide Orange Tie Ball.
Cycle Against Suicide is a national organisation which promotes positive mental health and awareness.
