-

EVERY Sunday night at Coolera House in Ransboro a group of locals meet to discuss fundraising initiatives for the Mitchell Sisters Independent Living Fund.

This committee has worked tirelessly to organise a number of fundraising drives and with €120,000 already raised is well on target for the €165,000 total.

As joint secretary Annette O’Carroll says: “We have a wonderful committee and our efforts are culminating in a New Year’s Eve Ball in the Radisson Blu Sligo.

“Tickets are only €50 which is really good value for a ball. We are not strict about what you wear. Consider it a dinner dance. We will have a great band called Streetwise and are really looking forward to an entertaining evening. We are encouraging everyone to buy tickets! All proceeds will be going to the Mitchell Sisters Independent Living Fund.”

Annette explains: “There are a number of other events we want to highlight. On Friday 24 th November, there will be a Music Night in Earlys pub on Bridge Street while on Sunday 26 th November after 11am mass there will be a cake sale at Ransboro School.

“On Sunday 10 th December from 1pm-3pm there will be a Fitness 4Fun Challenge in Strandhill.”

Shane Martin will present, Pathways to Health and Happiness at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Sunday 17 th December at 8pm, engaging his audience with stories, humour and some of his poems in what will be a perfect appetiser to the Christmas season.

Annette adds: “On Wednesday 20 th December 8pm, The Glory of Christmas music concert takes place at the Sligo Park Hotel and on Saturday 23rd December at 8pm there will be Stars in their OWN Eyes in Collins Pub in Rathcormac.
