Sligo to be part of 2018 Operation Transformation National Walks
ONCE again Sport Ireland and Local Sports Partnerships around the country have teamed up with RTE’s Operation Transformation Programme to encourage people to follow a healthy lifestyle in 2018. This popular TV programme encourages and inspires communities across the country to get active and adopt healthy eating habits. Why not get your New Year’s Resolutions off to a great start and adopt your own ‘Physical Activity Transformation’ by joining Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership on Saturday 13th January 2018 for one of the Operation Transformation National Walks at 11.00am on the Sligo Town Sli na Slainte route along Doorly Park. The meeting place for the walk is JFK Parade and the route will follow Sligo’s attractive waterfront along the Garavogue River through Doorly Park with a total distance is 4km.
Sports Co-ordinator Deirdre Lavin is encouraging everybody to get involved in the walk stating; “People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome on the day and in particular it would be great to see families getting involved. The event is ideal for beginners to come out and give exercise a go”.
So let’s all show the nation how active we are in Sligo by taking part in the Sligo event which is part of the Operation Transformation National Walks on Saturday 13th January 2018. Meet at JFK Parade Sligo at 11.00am with warm up from 10.45am. For health and safety reasons we would please ask you not to bring your dogs along to this particular walk.
