WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Naomi Coggins, Enniscrone and John Queenan, Easkey, who were married in Enniscrone Church on Saturday, December 30. The reception was held in the Ocean Sands Hotel.

DEATH

The sudden death has taken place of Mary Scott née Rafter, Castle Heights, Easkey and formerly of Killanley. She was predecease­d by her husband Basil. Her funeral Mass took place in St James Church and burial in Roslea Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to her sister, brothers, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

ST FARNAN’S GAA

St Farnan’s GAA Club are planning a fundraisin­g event in March. If anyone is interested in taking part in a Blue and White Boxing night please contact a club officer. The club recently held a presentati­on night in the Beach Bar. Runner-up medals was presented to the minor and intermedia­te teams by special guest Aidan Rooney. Individual awards were made to James Weir Minor Player of the Year, most committed minor player Simon Mulllarkey, junior player Stephen Feeney, intermedia­te player Seán Healy and young intermedia­te player Mark Devaney.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Maise Reilly, Kilglass, whose death took place after a short illness. Her funeral Mass took place in Kilglass Church with burial in St Patrick’s Cemetry.

BOSTON TEA PARTY

Coláiste Iascaigh will hold a Boston Tea Party in the Ocean Sands Hotel on January 26. All proceeds going directly to future developmen­t works at the school. An auction is also planned on the night, and are currently accepting any items that may attract interest. Sympathy is extended to the family of Doreen Conlon née Hegearty, Roscommon and Ballymeene­y, Easkey, whose sudden death took place before Christmas.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on December 22. €25 winners: Michelle Finnerty, Matt Leonard, Mary Burns, Phyliss Dobbyn and Rosalie Mitchell. Promoter’s prize: Micheál Weir. Next jackpot €1,200 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night. There was no draw on December 29.

Congratula­tions to Naomi Coggins daughter of Michael and Margaret Coggins of Lacknaslev­a, Enniscrone on her marriage to John Queenan son of Brendan and Bridget Mary Queenan of Castletown, Easkey. The Wedding Ceremony took place in the Church of Our Lady Assumed Into Heaven Enniscrone on Saturday, December 30. The Celebrant was Fr Eddie Rogan and the reception was held in the Ocean Sands Hotel Enniscrone. We wish the young couple, a long and happy life together.

ENNISCRONE-KILGLASS GAA

New Year Greetings – The club extends a very Happy New Year to all of our players, members, supporters and sponsors. May 2018 be a successful year for the club. Thanks to everyone at home and abroad for the remarkable support we received in 2017, particular­ly during our fundraisin­g efforts for the indoor astro-turf complex which exceeded all expectatio­ns.

Married vs Singles – We had a tremendous turnout for our annual Married vs Singles Charity match in Quigabar last Wednesday. In what was a first for the club, the Enniscrone-Kilglass Gaelic for Mothers and Others group played in the curtain-raiser in what was their first outing on the pitch. Afterwards, the Married men took the spoils once again over the Singles team. Thanks to everyone who came out to support. All funds raised will go towards the Moy Search and Rescue, and the Civil Defence.

Underage presentati­on – Our thanks to Sligo footballer Niall Murphy for attending our underage presentati­on after our charity match last Wednesday. Congratula­tions to our 2016 under-13 and under-14 teams, as well as our 2017 under-12s on their achievemen­ts.

BLOTTO

The blotto draw had a week break for the New Year, and will return this Saturday, January 6, The jackpot remains at its highest ever figure (€14000). Thanks to everyone who supported the draw in 2017, and to our friends in Kilglass/Enniscrone Utd FC.

WALKING CLUB

A walk will take place on January 13 at Lough Easkey Ramble. Level moderate, terrain track, open mountain length three to four hours.

SAFE PASS

On Saturday, December 23, there was no winner of the €13,800 jackpot when the blotto draw took place in Gilroy’s Bar. Numbers drawn were 19, 24 and 25. €25 winners were Bridie Tivnan, Daniel Dunne, Martin O’Dowd, David McDonnell, Aoife Sweeney, Padraic Tighe. Ide Kerrigan, Anthony Coleman Woodlands.
