Hotel will now accept vouchers after facing social media criticism

-

The new owner of Ballymote’s Coach House Hotel says he will honour old gift vouchers up until January 31st.

Having taking over the company in recent months, the new owner posted on the hotel’s Facebook page saying that any vouchers bought previously would be not accepted by new management.

But following the negative reaction from many locals, the owner did a u-turn and says they will accept any vouchers up until the very end of this month.

The Facebook post read: “I apologize for my error with the old vouchers. I was overwhelmed and did only look at the short term financial effect at the business, and this made me careless.

“I will honour all old vouchers in full up until the 31st of January 2018.

“If there any guests who are not able to make it before that date please contact me directly. “Once again a sincere apology from my side.” The decision to now accept the old vouchers received a hugely positive response from members of the public.

“That was a good decision on your part. Ballymote is a small town with some great people. And money is to hard earned.

“Vouchers were purchased in good faith and to support the hotel in Ballymote and to ensure our money was spent locally. The hotel is a great asset to our town.,” one user wrote in response to the Facebook post.

Another member of the public responded: “I have no voucher but I think you are doing the right thing . You are doing a good job down there the food is great and staff are lovely.”

The hotel re-opened in 2014 having been closed for a short period.

Since then, it has become a popular venue for lunch, dinner, drinks and even parties.
