Big demand for Skoda Karoq

-

THE new SKODA KAROQ compact SUV, the second model in the brand’s SUV offensive, is now on sale in Ireland.

The KAROQ is positioned just below its bigger counterpart, the KODIAQ , in the SKODA vehicle line-up. While the KODIAQ is primarily a seven-seat vehicle, the KAROQ is strictly a 5-seat compact SUV with all the space, functionality and simply clever features that are synonymous with the brand.

From a dimensions pointof-view, it is larger than the Yeti, which it replaces – 160mm longer, 48mm wider with the boot capacity increasing by 105 litres to 521 litres in standard format. Despite this, the KAROQ is actually 13kg lighter than the outgoing Yeti.

From the exterior, the SKODA Design language is evident with crystalline effects in the LED head lights and body panel lines. Like all SKODA models, the KAROQ offers class-leading luggage space and functionality.

Positive impressions continue into the cabin, with the optional and unique VarioFlex seating system, which can be adjusted into multiple formats (or removed completely) to accommodate the more bulky luggage transporting tasks. With VarioFlex seating, the standard luggage capacity increases to 588 litres. All KAROQ versions are provided with a foldable umbrella that is stored neatly beneath the passenger seat.

The KAROQ comes with a choice of four engine variants, ranging from 115 bhp to 150 bhp, with three DSG offerings as well as a 150 bhp 4X4. The top navigation systems, Columbus and Amundsen, also offer a WiFi hotspot for on board Wi-Fi. A wireless phone charger can also be added to the KAROQ, removing unwanted cable clutter.

The Ambition trim comes standard with 17” Ratikon alloy wheels; 8” touch screen Bolero infotainment system, Climatronic air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, Smart Link+ and chrome roof rails and window surrounds. The Style trim adds 18” Mytikas alloy wheels, 9.2” Columbus infotainment system with navigation, rear view camera, DAB radio and Keyless Entry with a Start / Stop button.

The Style version benefits from the full suite of SKODA Connectivity solutions, namely Infotainment Online, Care Connect and Emergency Call. Infotainment Online opens up a world of online services, including: Online Traffic Info and Online RSS News Feeds, fuel prices and weather alerts. Google Earth overlays for navigation are also featured. Care Connect delivers the Proactive Service feature, connecting the car to the authorised SKODA dealer. The driver can also access the KAROQ via a mobile device for remote car management. Emergency Call automatically connects the KAROQ to the SKODA Call Centre to alert emergency services of the GPS location and automatic dial-in assistance from an emergency services operator. Speaking at the launch of the KAROQ, Mark Mulvaney, PR Manager at SKODA Ireland, said there is already unprecedented demand for the new KAROQ – especially from the higher specified Style models.

‘Customers are taking time to specify their KAROQs online and are availing of great option packs, such as the Style plus package with Panoramic Sunroof and Electric Tailgate from €1,399,’ he said.

KAROQ prices start at €27,715. The KAROQ is available with PCP finance, with rates from 3.9 per cent APR and monthly payments from €319.
