BOIL WATER NOTICE

Boil Water notice in the Coolaney/Rockfield in place till further notice. The notice has been issued for people served by the Lough Talt Regional Water Supply Scheme due to the detection of cryptospor­idium in treated water. Irish Water has said it will be carrying out weekly sampling at several sites in the scheme. It said the notice will be lifted if there were sufficient clear samples over a number of weeks.

GAA NEWS

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA Club have restarted ‘Blue Kidz’ every Saturday morning in the Teeling Centre in Collooney. Killoran Rambling House is on Friday, March 9, at 9 p.m. in Killoran Community Centre. Join them for a song, a story, a tune and a few laughs. All are very welcome.

SENIORS ALERT SCHEME

The Seniors Alert Scheme alarm pendants are free and available for people over 65. The objective of the Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) is to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communitie­s through the provision of personal monitored alarms to enable older persons, of limited means, to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independen­ce and peace of mind. Funding is available under the scheme towards the purchase of personal alarm or pendant. Funding is made available by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. WALKING GROUP

Walking group meets every Tuesday and Friday at the Mill Pharmacy carpark at 8.30 p.m. New members welcome. Just come along on the night.

THE death has taken place in Chorley, England of James Keane, a native of Ragwood, Gurteen husband of Beatie Flanagan of Cuilmore, and brother of Kathleen Casey and Mick Keane Ragwood, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to the Flanagan and Keane Families on their bereavemen­t. May he rest in peace.

RECENT BIRTH

Congratula­tions and good wishes to Lorraine (Tynan) and Neil Jones on the birth on January 30 of twin girls Lauren and Emily – sisters to Rosanna.

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,700 on 47 calls and lotto raffle won last week is now €300-all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.

COLLECTION THANKS

At the annual Coleman Branch CCE collection taken up at Gurteen on last Sunday a total of €262 was collected. It will go towards Branch activities and the Coleman Festival. Many thanks to all who generously contribute­d and also to the collectors.
