SAVE EASKEY POST OFFICE
The fight to Save Easkey post office goes on with the next meeting in the community centre on Wednesday 28 at 8 p.m. Dozens of locals along with local representatives staged a protest at the IT Sligo when the cabinet arrived for a meeting on Project Ireland 2040. On Wednesday morning a large crowd gathered again in Easkey when local Radio had a views of locals aired on the morning show.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Martin McDonagh, London-Irish writer and director, whose mother Mary (née Harte) is from Killeenduff, Easkey and his father is a native of Connemara on winning a BAFTA for his film ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, winning five awards including Best Film. Three Billboards also scooped the trophies for Outstanding British Film and Best Original Screenplay.
SCÓR SINSEAR
The Scór Sinsear County Finals will take place on Saturday, March 3, in Kilmacowen Hall. The quiz will start at 7 p.m. and the rest of the competitions will follow on at 8.30 p.m. Anyone interested in taking part contact a member of their GAA club. Competitions will be held in – Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation/ Storytelling, Instrumental Music, Léiriú Stáitse, Ballad Group, and set dancing.
5K/10K RUN
The Easkey Castle annual 5K and 10K run will be held on Sunday, April 15, and not on the 29th as already stated.
EUGENE FORDE R.I.P.
The death has taken place of Eugene Forde, Bunowna, Easkey. His remains were removed from McGowan’s funeral home to St James Church. Burial took place in Roslea Cemetry following Requiem Mass. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes and is survived by his sons Jackie and Desmond, daughters-in-law grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Eileen, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is offered.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
The Easkey’s St Patrick’s Day parade is on Saturday, March 17, starting at 3 p.m. All Floats, groups and walkers, will meet at St James’ Church car park. There will be a viewing stand at Pudding Row to announce every group as they pass by. Entry is free of charge, please register your float/business so you can get a plug from the viewing stand. As with previous years the En- niscrone Parade will start at 1 p.m. then Easkey’s Parade is at 3 p.m. and lastly the Dromore West Parade will commence at 4 p.m.
CAKE/BRIC-À-BRAC SALE
Rathlee Tidy Towns hope to run a cake and bric-à-brac sale at Easter. bric-à-brac can be accepted from now on and can be left at the Parish House in Rathlee.
DIOCESAN LISTENING
The Killala Diocesan Listening Process is coming to Easkey Parish on tonight Tuesday, February 27, at 8 p.m. in the community centre. The meeting is open to all parishioners and there is a special invitation to all parish council members and all involved in various ministries in the parish.
