Keogh captains for Hungary friendly
GRANGE’S Seamas Keogh captained his country’s U16s side in Budapest on Thursday for a friendly with Hungary.
Sligo Rovers’ Seamas was also captain of the Republic of Ireland U15s last year.
Head Coach Paul Osam’s team travelled to Hungary where they were in action in snowy sub-zero temperatures.
Hosts Hungary proved too strong in the interna- tional friendly and won by four goals to nil.
Two goals, either side of the break were enough for the home side to win at the Hungarian FA Headquarters in Telki.
Played in sub-zero temperatures, Head Coach Paul Osam made seven changes to the Ireland side that lost 3-2 to Hungary earlier in the week.
Osam said it was defensive errors and missed chances that led to the defeat.
He said: “We didn’t start very well, but had a brilliant chance to equalise when we were losing 1-0. On the stroke of half-time an unforced error let Hungary double their lead.
“We changed a few things at the start of the second half and started very well.
“We could have scored to make it 2-1, but another goal for Hungary meant it was game over.
“The players are realising that at international level, errors will lead to the opposition punishing you.
