FAMILY ROSOURCE CENTRE

March 5 to March 9 is Health Week at the family resource centre, The Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Unit will have two nurses available on the mobile health unit to provide free blood pressure checks and heart health informatio­n, the one to one advice offered by the nurses is a vital part of the check. This will take part on Friday, March 9, 10 a.m. to 3.45 p.m.

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

LENTEN RETREAT

The Galilee Community day of retreat has been posted because of the weather warnings, The retreat day has been changed to Sunday, March 18, from Saturday, March 3, starting from 10.30 a.m. it will conclude with Mass at 4 p.m. The theme of the retreat is ‘Living lent mindfully’ and will be given by Br. ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Following a well-attended and very successful meeting a committee was formed to organise this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade. The good attendance was a reflection on the importance of the parade to the town. With the energy and enthusiasm of the newly elected committee, the future of the St Patrick’s Day parade in Boyle is no longer in doubt.

Boyle Chamber of Commerce and Boyle Town Team would like to wish every success to the new committee and look forward to a great day in Boyle. The parade will take place on St Patrick’s Day at 3.30 p.m.

The newly elected committee are as follows: Joe Ryan (chairperso­n), Maura Clarke, Eddie Creighton, Derek Dooley, Martin Downes, Lorcan Egan, Máire Egan Paul, Aileen Madden, Enda Madden, Dorothy Shannon and Keith Suffin.

The Spring/summer brochure for Boyle Family Resource Centre is now available. The brochure details the many courses, programmes, groups and services available at the centre to meet the needs of the community. Rainbows is a support programme for children with bereavemen­t and parental separation. Darkness into Light is an annual 5k Walk/Run in aid of Pieta House. On Saturday, May 12, a community will come together at St Joseph’s Hall and walk in support of positive mental health. This is a truly unique experience made by YOU Family, friends and friends you haven’t met yet gathering in support of those who may be struggling or those we have lost. Together we stand together as a community and shine a beacon of light and hope. This will be Boyle’s second year to host the world wide event.
