Second store for Call of the Wild is opened

POPULAR Sligo sports and outdoor activity shop Call of the Wild has opened a second outlet in Galway, doubling its retail presence to offer the West of Ireland’s most comprehensive range of equipment and training gear.

The new branch of Call of the Wild is located on Eglinton Street and was previously known as The Great Outdoors. The shop has been open for some 30 years and is renowned for its knowledgeable staff and wide range of outdoor equipment and sporting gear.

The Managing Director of Sligo-based Call of the Wild, Eoghan Sheehan, says the opportunity to add a new branch in Galway was too good to miss.

“I’ve known the shop in Galway for years and always admired the passion and expert knowledge of the team there,” said Mr Sheehan. “We had a good chat a while back and when the opportunity came to join forces, I didn’t hesitate for a second.

“This is a great time to be involved in the outdoor activity scene, with more and more people getting into hiking, cycling, mountaineering, camping and other pursuits,” Mr Sheehan said. “With two outlets now along the Wild Atlantic Way, we’re in a great position to cater for those needs.”

Call of the Wild now employs eight people in Sligo and a further 15 staff in Galway, with the company hopeful of adding additional staff – and possibly more outlets – over the coming 12 months.
