Crash highlights once more need for N4 upgrade
ANOTHER crash on the N4 about a mile from Castlebaldwin when a lorry left the road on Saturday morning has highlighted once more the need for its urgent upgrading.
The driver wasn’t injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution and the N4 was closed from Drumfin crossroads to Castlebaldwin as diversions were put in place.
The Fire brigade and County Council crews were at the scene and the narrow stretch of the N4 was down to one lane with a stop and go system in operation. The lorry was eventually lifted out and the road re-opened in the early afternoon.
The N4 upgrade will not see construction this year but should see progress towards tender selection.
