THE Glasshouse Hotel played host to a day full of events for women last week for Internatio­nal Women’s Day.

Women from all walks of life attended the event, spoke at the event, and were celebrated at the event.

The day began with morning event for the retired women who was able to attend from 10am-12pm.

The afternoon event, which began at lunch, was aimed at women in the workplace. Sligo Chamber of Commerce President Fiona Candon, who has just taken

office, opened the event. Successful women in business spoke at the event. Martina Hamilton, Designer Cat and Moon and the award winning Bernie Butler of Good4U addressed event attendees with Susan Monahan advising on managing Social Media in Business and Marian Harkin MEP speaking about the importance of encouragin­g women to enter politics. Anne Butler, Pharmacist spoke about ‘managing stress in today’s busy workplace’, with music from Sarah Crummy and Notorius 4 completing the afternoon event.

The evening event offered attendees more music, a talk by Anne Butler on women’s health followed by a wine tasting, make up by Toher’s Chemist followed by Interior Designer, Room Junkie, Anne Tuohy.

Simone’s provided a fashion show with music by Zoe Alexander concluding the day’s activities.

The event was organised by friends of Sligo University Hospital.
