Construction of new 32-bed nursing unit could be starting soon
THE construction of a new 32bed nursing unit in Ballymote could begin later this year according to local Fine Gael Cllr Dara Mulvey.
He said the new unit is currently in the final stages of the tender process.
The new development will be added on to the current nursing facility.
Cllr Mulvey added: “It is hoped that a building contractor will be on site April-June of this year.
“Construction of this 32 bed nursing unit for Ballymote will be a 12 months’ project.
“This state-of-the-art unit will be built up to highest HIQA standards.
“Having 32 more units will be a big addition for the Ballymote centre.
“It will complement the newly built Primary Health Care Centre in Ballymote which is one of only 14 in the country and is due to open in the coming weeks.
“These new facilities will be a great asset to the south Sligo region,” Cllr Mulvey added.
