Keogh and Taheny up for FAI Internatio­nal awards

TWO Sligo footballer­s are among the nominees for this year’s Three FAI Internatio­nal Awards.

Sligo Rovers’ Seamas Keogh, formerly of Benbulben FC has been nominated for the Under 15 Men’s Internatio­nal Player of the Year.

A regular for Irish underage sides, Keogh recently captained the under 16s in a friendly against Hungary a fortnight ago.

While Ross Taheny, formerly of Sligo Rovers and now of DCU and Ballinamal­lard United has been nominated for the Colleges and Universiti­es Internatio­nal Player of the Year having been part of the Irish squad that travelled to the World University Games in Taiwan in 2017.

Taheny featured for Rovers from the bench on several occasions. The awards ceremony takes place this Sunday evening and will be broadcast live on RTE2 from 8.10pm.
