MAE CONNOLLY R.I.P.

The death has taken place of Mae Connolly née Hannon Ballinahow­na, Dromore West. Her remains were removed from Sweeney’s Funeral Home to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Dromore West for Requiem Mass and burial took place in Churchill Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to her sons, daughters, sisters, brother, grandchild­ren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

LEAP IN THE DEEP

The Easkey ‘Leap in the DEEP’ fundraiser will take place at Pool Gorm on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. Please sponsor the brave swimmers who will be leaping into the Atlantic. There will be a special prize this year for the swimmer who collects the most sponsorshi­p money: a full day of Surfing lessons for a family kindly donated by West Coast Surfing School.

DANGERS OF THE INTERNET

There is a very informativ­e and important talk on this Thursday night, March 22 in the Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone at 7.30 p.m.

It’s to educate representa­tives of the dangers of the internet for our kids and how to safeguard your technology at home to avoid any unsafe websites and also looking out for and dealing with cyberbully­ing.

This informatio­n evening is free of charge is given by renowned speaker Trisha O’Sullivan and is open to everyone irrespecti­ve of whether you have a child going to the school or not.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Easkey’s St Patrick’s Day parade is on Saturday, March 17, starting at 3 p.m. All Floats, groups and walkers, will meet at St James’ Church car park. There will be a viewing stand at Pudding Row to announce every group as they pass by. Entry is free of charge; please register your float/business so you can get a plug from the viewing stand. DROMORE WEST PARADE

The Dromore West St Patrick’s Day parade will be taking place on Saturday, March 17, commencing at 4 p.m. parade entrants are asked gather from 3.30 p.m. at Dromore West Church. There will be refreshmen­ts and entertainm­ent in the community centre immediatel­y after the parade.

Dromore West is feeling ‘Clean and Green’ this St Patrick’s Day by working in conjunctio­n with the Tidy Towns to keep our village litter-free and environmen­tally friendly. In order to support this, we will be opting for a Environmen­tally Friendly parade this year, which means we will be displaying Irish flags across the village, and other environmen­tally friendly equipment where possible, rather than plastic bunting.

We are also asking all businesses with shop fronts to join in the festivitie­s, by decorating their shop fronts for the parade. Whether it be a flag outside the door or a full on window display all is welcome. For further details, please contact Kirsty Murphy or Geraldine McCloat.

SPRING FEST 2018

Dromore West Village Enhancemen­t will be holding ‘Spring Fest 2018’ Easter Weekend, running from Friday, March 31, to Monday, April, two with various events and activities in the community.

On Good Friday, Dromore West Tidy Towns will be hosting a Community Spring Clean in the village. We are asking that all members of the community, old and young, come out to help kick start the Tidy Town season and get Dromore West started on the right foot. We will have refreshmen­ts after for all involved.

Easter Saturday will see a ‘Biodiversi­ty Day’ taking place in the community centre, where there will be various activities for all people in the community. There will be guests on the day speaking about nature, recycling and waste management and also people are invited to help the members of the Tidy Towns start planting seeds for the coming summer.

On Easter Monday, we will have first ever ‘Little Fairies and Farmers’ Tractor run taking place around the grounds of the community centre followed by a kids’ disco for all who take part.

All proceeds from this weekend’s event will go towards Dromore West Tidy Towns to help support their projects for 2018.
