DAFFODIL DAY
Daffodil Day took place in Ballymote on Friday, March 23, and it was a great success. Many thanks goes all round, to those who donated daffodils for the event, those who came out to support us on the day, our wonderful Collectors, who stood outside our local businesses to distribute the daffodils and Henry’s, SuperValu and Ballymote post office who allowed us the use of their premises to sell our daffodil merchandise. €2,896 was raised on the day.
DARKNESS INTO LIGHT
Coláiste Muire has been chosen by Pieta House to host ‘Darkness into Light’ again this year, on the morning of Saturday, May 12, while it is still dark at 4.15 a.m. and finishing as dawn is breaking at 5.30 a.m. approximately. We welcome all help in the run up to the event and on the morning itself. Below are some of the ways in which you can assist us: Helping out with stewarding on the morning. Helping out with tea or coffee, etc. on the morning.
Helping out with community registration events locally in the weekends prior to the event. Baking. Taking part in the event. We are encouraging as many as possible to participate in Darkness into Light 2018. Registration remains open and should be completed online atdil.pieta.ie.

Your support will assist Pieta House in creating awareness of the services that they offer at Pieta House and raises much needed funds to enable Pieta to help those in suicidal crisis, people who engage in self-harm and those bereaved by suicide.
CLOTHES COLLECTION
The annual clothes collection in aid of Ballymote Community Parks/Haiti is now up and running for this year. The previous collection raised €730 for both the Parks and Haiti. Bags can be left at first dressing room in Br.Walfrid Park. Clothes, towels, bed linen, shoes, runnners, leather bags, blankets. No Pillows or Duvets accepted. Thank you for your support.
LOTTO
There was no winner of the Ballymote lotto jackpot on April 7 Numbers drawn were 9, 11, 12 and 26. There were no matchthree winners. The jackpot now stands at €3,200. The next draw will take place in John Doddy’s on Saturday, April 21. Thank you for your continued support.
YOGA
A new six-week course of yoga classes starts on April 26 in Ballymote Family Resource Centre. Beginners at 6.30 p.m., mixed ability at 8 p.m. Contact Therese at 086 3230197.

Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Sr. Anne Kennedy (religious Sister of St Joseph of the Apparition) whose death occurred recently.

COMMUNITY EVENT
Ballymote will host a community event on Saturday, April 21, in SuperValu Ballymote from 10 a.m. to midday and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., where you can come along and meet the Darkness into light committee who will help you register if you need assistance. Please note that you will need a debit or credit card to register, cash and/or cheques cannot be taken. There will be no registration on the night/morning of Darkness into Light.
COLÁISTE MUIRE NEWS
Congratulations to Coláiste Muire students Aoife Loughlin, Casey Cullen and Aoibhe Carty (Transition Year) also known as ACA on their recent success at the regional Student Enterprise Finals in Sligo on March 8. The girls were overall winners in the senior category and will now progress to the all-Ireland finals in Croke Park on May 2.
Their project is a handbook to encourage numeracy and literacy with exercises suitable for Junior Cycle students catering for all Junior Cycle subjects. Well done to Michaela Kielty, Nicola Redican and Amy Scanlon, who took part with their all natural, home made bath bombs, lip scrubs and lip balms and to ‘Alliocht’ comprised of Thalia Kelly and Kate Lohan, who produced subscription beauty boxes with all Irish products.
TABLE TENNIS SUCCESS – Congratulations to Coláiste Muire’s girls table tennis team who won the Connacht Final in Kiltimagh on Tuesday, March 13. They will compete in the all-Ireland final on April 26. Well done to the boys’ team who were placed third in Connacht.

COLEMAN ARCHIVE LAUNCH
The Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen is delighted to announce the launch of their latest CD for the Coleman Archive titled ‘The Past is Another Tune’, produced by Gregory Daly.
It will be officially launched by Joe Byrne on this Saturday, April 21, at 8.30 p.m. This is the fourth CD collection in a series of archive recordings from the Coleman Heritage Centre having the general title THE COLEMAN ARCHIVE Admission is free and all are welcome.
