Coola into All-Ireland semi-final

-

COOLA completed a Connacht Soccer double last Friday another remarkable achievement for the school.

Following on from the school’s Connacht U15 win earlier in the year, it was time for the First years to shine with a 1-0 win over St Marys Foxford in a game played in Lecarrow Roscommon.

In what was a tight affair it was Coola who shaded it with a first half free kick from centre half Aaron Mullen. Coola had a number of opportunities to add to their lead but Foxford piled on the pressure in the last 15 minutes looking for an equaliser.

Coola goalkeeper, Fionn Healy proved to be the hero saving a Foxford penalty with less than 10 minutes left.

Best for Coola were goalkeeper Fionn Healy, Conor Moyston, Chris McGowan, James Foley, Ciaran Kenny, Sam Tuohy, Dylan McKenna, Diarmuid Lavin and man-of-the-match Aaron Mullen.

Next up for Coola is an All-Ireland semi-final on Thursday at 1pm against St Marys from Newport, Co Tipperary, in the Ennis Active Complex on Lees Road. Team manager Kevin McCarthy who is also head of the Coola U15s said he was delighted for the school to add a 3rd Connacht title in 3 years.

“The team have worked hard all year and got their reward today.

“Now we will turn our focus to the All-Ireland semi-final which is bound to be another tough challenge but one the players will relish taking on,” Kevin added.

Another All-Ireland final is just one step away.
