ART WINNER

Congratula­tions to Jack McGrath, Ballymote, fifth year student in Coláiste Muire on his win in the 64th Texaco Children’s Art Competitio­n. Jack won third prize in Category A with his entry entitled ‘Wisdom’. Jack, along with his family, attended the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin on Tuesday last to collect his award.

We also congratula­te Anthony Rawl, Ballymote second year student in Coláiste Muire, who has received a special Merit award in Category G with his entry entitled ‘ Lino-Print – Self-Portrait’. Anthony will travel to the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham in Dublin on May 30 to pick up his award.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Coláiste Muire will host Darkness into Light again this year on Saturday, May 12, at 4.15 a.m. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page ‘Darkness into Light Ballymote’ and the school’s website cmbm.ie for updates in relation to registrati­on, car parking, etc.

COLÁISTE MUIRE NEWS

Student Enterprise Award: Best of luck to Aoife Loughlin, Casey Cullen and Aoibhe Carty (Transition Year) also known as ACA in the all-Ireland Student Enterprise finals in Croke Park on May 2. The girls were overall winners in the senior category in the regional finals in Sligo in March. Their project is a handbook to encourage numeracy and literacy with exercises suitable for Junior Cycle students catering for all Junior Cycle subjectsAl­l-Ireland Table Tennis Finals: Best of luck to Coláiste Muire’s girls’ Table-Tennis team who will compete in the all-Ireland Table Tennis final on April 26. This is a progressio­n from winning the Connacht Final in Kiltimagh in March.

The Ballymote Community Games Athletics competitio­n takes place at Ballymote GAA pitch on Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. No entries accepted on day of competitio­n.
