Natalia and Rafal had ‘created a loving home’

-

NTALIA Karaczyn’s sister Magdalena McMorrow told the congregation at the funeral Mass of her sister on Friday morning that she had been dedicated to her three boys and that she and her husband were a loving mum and dad.

They had also created a loving home for their children, said Magdalena who was addressing the congregation at the end of the Mass.

She said she had been very close to her sister, whom she wanted to be named Carolina instead of Natalia, and that for 22 years they had shared a bedroom whist growing up in her native Poland.

The bedroom was nine square metres and had two beds, two wardrobes along with mice and turtles.

“You name it we had it,” she laughed, referring to the range of animals they kept.

“We were always very close,” she said.

Magdalena, who came to Sligo 12 years ago, said she was delighted her sister moved here permanently in 2014 having returned for awhile previously to start a family with Rafal Karaczyn in Poland and where they had two boys.

“As happy as I was I was very lonely without her and was delighted she came back,” she said.

Magdalena described her sister as “the sensible one.”

Magdalena said it was difficult for Polish people to say express their love. “we just can’t do it,” she said but she would say it to her sister.

She recalled one night ring- ing her while she was back in Poland and telling her she loved her so much.

“Are you in the Garavogue again?” was Natalia’s response.

Magdalena thanked everyone in Sligo for all their help and support over the past week.

“I cannot reply to all the messages I am getting.

“I really appreciate all the support,” she said as the congregation burst into applause.

Natalia is survived by her parents Regina and Zenon, siblings Magdalena, Jedrzej (Poland) and Wojciech (Poland).

As the coffin was carried from the Cathedral, a dance music song was played.

Following the Requiem Mass the funeral proceeded to the Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan.
