A glimpse into the future at The Model
THE German Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Deike Potzel, was the special guest as The Model opened a new group exhibition ‘featuring the most exciting contemporary artists working in Germany today’.
Future Perfect is a major touring international group exhibition by Institut fur Auslandsbeziehungen.
FUTURE PERFECT, Contemporary Art from Germany opened to the public on Saturday May 5 th, and continues until July 1st.
The exhibition, curated by Angelika Stepken & Philipp Ziegler, includes films, photographs, sculptures, objects, painting, and collages by sixteen artists who look at visions of the future and speculations on the course of history.
Artists Yorgos Sapountzis, Nasan Tur, and Lilian Scholtes will be artists in residence at The Model throughout the duration of the exhibition.
Yorgos Sapountzis delivered an artist talk on Saturday May 12 th and Nasan Tur will also deliver an artist talk on Sunday 01 July at 5 pm.
An associated screening programme of artists films will take place on Thursdays 31 May and 07 June at 8 pm.
The screenings and talks are open to the public and free to attend.
Brazilian artist Lilian Scholtes will deliver an art camp for teenagers in response to the exhibition Future Perfect.
The art camp titled ‘Imagine to Imagine’ is funded by the Goethe-Institut Irland.
Humorous and ironic artworks in the Future Perfect show operate at the interface of art and life, and teenagers are invited to engage in this unique workshop through art-making and participatory actions. Admission is free of charge for the camp which runs from 19 – 22 June.
Nasan Tur will deliver a dynamic family workshop, on July 15, which promises to be inventive, humorous and loads of fun. The family day costs €20 for 1 adult and 1 child and €25 for 1 adult and 2 Children with 2 children max per Adult.
Booking in advance is highly recommended, as spaces are limited.
