Cllr. Henry questions HSE on car park

-

COUNCILLOR Keith Henry has once again questioned the HSE regarding car parking matters at Sligo University Hospital. Fianna Fáil Councillor Henry, who is Vice Chairperson of the HSE West Regional Health Forum Committee, raised the questions at the May meeting of the Health Forum. CLLR Henry previously raised the matters in March 2017. “I’m following up from the requests I made in 2017 for information regarding profits made by the car park and for passes to be given to patients who are required to be on site. I wasn’t provided with that information then and neither were media outlets who made inquiries” Cllr Henry said.

IN response to his questions Cllr Henry was told that the carpark made profits of €199,000 in 2015 and €127,000 in 2014. “I don’t see why there was such a delay in providing these figures and for transparency purposes the public should know as they do regarding several hospitals nationally.” PREVIOUSLY Councillor Henry discovered that families who are on the hospital campus regularly for treatment can apply for a parking pass. “This was something that a lot of nurse managers didn’t even know they had the authority to do. I’ve asked the HSE for the number of passes issued and once again they say that they have no record of it. I find it unusual that there would be no record for such passes and I hope that it is not because none have been issued. The HSE have said that although they have no records the numbers would be small.” The HSE also confirmed that the tender process for the hospital car park contract will be advertised in the coming weeks.
