The Sligo Champion

New store aiming to lead way for runners

-

RUNPOD the Northwest’s premium running store that caters for the region’s growing community of running enthusiasts, officially opens on Friday June 1st.

Located on Markievicz Road, RunPod offers specialist running footwear from exclusive brands including Brooks, New Balance, Mizuno, Adidas, Altra & Inov-8.

The store is managed and operated by John Delany.

Visitors to RunPod in recent months will have met Sligo’s own elite running superstar Mary Cullen.

The National Senior Women’s Indoor 3,000m record holder offers people her expertise on running and specialist athletic footwear.

On the evening of the store launch, Mary will be joined by another record breaker, John Travers. John etched his name into the history books in February, becoming the first Irish athlete to run a sub-four-minute mile indoors, on Irish soil in Athlone IT.

The right footwear is so important when it comes to running.

RunPod offers customers podiatrist-led gait analysis using in-store digital biomechanical assessment technology.

This process analyses an athlete’s natural running style; revealing both their gait cycle and how the foot and lower limb interact with the ground when running.

The store is on a mission to introduce more people to the health and social benefits of running.

RunPod’s Run Club initiative collaborates with local running groups helping introduce more people to running as a pastime.

The official RunPod launch takes place in-store on Markievicz Road between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday June 1st.

Anyone with an interest in running is invited to attend and bag a pair of exclusive footwear at a great price, win some free shoes, grab a RunPod goodie bag and enjoy some finger food provided by Knox of O’Connell Street.
