‘Further evidence of importance of the NW region’
SPEAKING following the announcement by Abtran, Sligo/ Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Tony McLoughlin he said it was one of the biggest jobs announcements in Sligo in over 20 years and was further evidence of the importance with which the Government had placed on creating new jobs in Sligo, as it set out to do under the ‘Ireland 2040 Project’ and the ‘Action Plan for Jobs’.
“This announcement by Abtran reaffirms the quality of Sligo as a destination for job creation and it comes on the back of other recent jobs announcements by both Abbott Ireland and LiveTiles.
“We can offer large companies so much here in Sligo, from the quality of life available to its work-force to the low cost of living and also access to a skilled and educated workforce due to the prox-imity of IT Sligo and the wide range of courses it offers.
“I wish to pay tribute to the staff and Enterprise Ireland and indeed Minister Heather Humphreys who have all played a part in helping this growing Irish business to choose Sligo and the North West as its new location for this major development.
“As a TD who on a weekly basis raises the issue of job creation in the Dail, I am delighted with to-days news and I fully expect there to be even more jobs announcements for Sligo and the region in the coming days, weeks and months,” concluded McLoughlin.
President of Sligo Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Fiona Candon said: “The announcement is a result of engagement and collaboration by all the stakeholders in the region.
“The skillsets identified in the North West was critical in selecting this location for Abtran’s new operations hub and these new jobs will complement the overall high quality workforce in the region.”
