Second half performance sees Cavan win as Lancashire are next

-

Comeford accurately sending over 2 more frees and when Ruairí Brennan slotted over another, Sligo led comfortably by 0-8 to 0-3 as half time approached.

Two fine points from Cavan’s Kevin Conneely and Mark Moffett in the space of a minute brought it back to three points before Comerford and Keating traded frees to see Sligo ahead by 0-9 to 0-6 at the interval.

The second half was a much different affair. Sligo scored first through the impressive Matthew Davey after the resumption but it was the visitors who went on a scoring spree. In the space of 8 minutes they scored 2-5 to lead by 2-11 to Sligo’s ten points on 48 minutes. Substitute Cormac Wall netting both goals with Joshua Crowe and Keating involved in the build-up play.

Prior added 2 more points for Sligo as 5 separated them before keeper Morgan Fitzsimmons had to make a save on Cavan’s Philip Brady. Comerford and Keating once again traded scores before substitute Tony O’Kelly-Lynch brought Sli- go’s deficit back to 5 with 10 minutes to go. Cavan pulled away again, points from Keating and Sheanon followed by 2 goals from Brady with Keith Raymond getting Sligo’s last score from a free.

Croke Park is next for Sligo on June 23rd at 12pm.
