Killer’s car forfeited to the State
CONVICTED child killer and rapist Ronnie Dunbar’s BMW car has been formally forfeited to the State for destruction, some ten years after it was first seized.
Inspector Paraic Burke made an application under the Police Property Act before Judge Kevin Kilrane at Tubbercurry District Court recently.
He said the ‘92 Registration BMW belonging to Ronald Raymond McManus Dunbar was seized as part of a Garda investigation in 2008 and the investigation was “now complete.”
Judge Kilrane granted the application.
Dunbar was sentenced to life imprisonment in July 2009 for the manslaughter of 14-year-old Melissa Mahon in September 2006.
Dunbar had dumped her body in Lough Gill wrapped in a sleeping bag and tied with one of his ties.
The killer also received a 15 years sentence for raping his daughter Heidi Conroy.
