Fined for throwing coffee cup

A truck driver has been fined a total of ¤400 after he was convicted of throwing a coffee cup out the window of his lorry.

Michael Hynes of Beltra was charged at Tubbercurry District Court under the Litter Act for dropping the coffee cup from his sheep truck on the N17 at Muckelty on 25 th January 2018.

The court heard an on-the-spot fine was issued to Hynes by post which got no response. Hynes did not appear in court. Judge Kevin Kilrane convicted Hynes and fined him ¤50 plus ¤350 costs to the State.
