Couldn’t pay all of the fine and received Probation Act

A man who was fined €700 for illegal fishing told Judge Kevin Kilrane that he could only pay half of the fine.

Colm O’Rourke with an address at Racecourse View, Cranmore, Sligo was charged with illegal fishing at Ballysadare on April 22nd 2017 and also in Sligo on May 10 th 2017.

Defending solicitor Mr Tom MacSharry said his client did pay €350 which he borrowed from his mother but didn’t have the rest of the money as his resources were very limited. Judge Kilrane said he applied the Probation Act in each case.
