Coolera/Strandhill’s U14’s are victorious

-

COOLERA/STRANDHILL Boys u14 had an emphatic win over a depleted St Molaise Gaels side recently at Ransboro Park.

The visitors opened the scoring but it was only to spur the host team into action with Jarlath Herbert getting the first of his two goals.

Oisín O’Neill picked up where he left off last week by raising a green flag which was the first of three goals for him, his third effort in the second half was worthy of any top-class finisher.

Jamie Kilfeather and Rory Kinane added further goals to go with points from Kevin Davitt, Ross Doherty and Mark McDaniel. Alfie Mc Dermott found the net early in the second half as did Andrew Lynch and Ross Doherty.

There were also further points by Kevin Davitt,Mark McDaniel and an unorthodox drop kick from Andrew Lynch closed out the scoring.

There were impressive defensive displays from Ben Cawley and Daire McCormack who grows in stature with each game, aided by Cathal Ballantine, the consistent Tadgh Doggett and versatile Jaime Walsh.

Up front Zach Gilligan and Sam White worked selflessly to set up several scores. Oran Harte came off the bench to man the posts in the second half and keep up the family tradition.

The man of the match award went to Oisín Hennessy in the unfamiliar corner back position.

St Molaise Gaels were without a number of players.
