Best wishes to St. Farnan’s/ St. Pat’s under16 team in the B league shield final against Castleconnor on Tuesday at 8 30 pm in Enniscrone. Good luck also to Easkey/ St Farnan’s under16 hurlers in the Cup final against Benbulben Gaels on Monday next. The 50/50 draw will be held on Sunday, July 15. Well done to Nora McCloat, winner of €162 in the last draw. The junior team had a good win in their league match against Owenmore Gaels on Sunday last in Templeboy. This was a high scoring encounter with the final score St. Farnan’s 5-17, Owenmore Gaels 4-12. The first half was very competitive with both sides exchanging scores and the home side leading 2-7 to 1-7 at half time. St. Farnan’s first score came from a penalty scored by Ryan McCoombe. Indeed St. Farnan’s had the greater share of possession and could have been further in front. After the break St. Farnan’s dominated the first fifteen minutes to lead 4-13 to 1-8. Owenmore Gaels to their credit battled hard and reduced the deficit to just one goal, 4-15 to 4-12, having scored three goals in quick succession. St. Farnan’s however, held firm and finished strongly with a goal by Stephen Crean. This was a good team performance all round with some great scores. The team was Sean Hallinan, Fergal Ryan, Declan Taylor, Oisin Connolly, Cormac Hallinan, Trevor Kilgannon, Kieran Kilgannon, Stephen Feeney(0-2), Gavin Connolly (2-2(1-0 pen), Iarla O’Connor (1-4), Shane Neary, Karl Hannon (0-7), Ryan Mc Coombe (1-2(1pen-1f). Subs used in second half: Padraic Culkin, Fergus Hargadon, Michael Mc Gowan, Stephen Crean (1-0). The team play away to Castleconnor on Saturday at 7pm. The intermediate team face St. Michael’s in a crucial league game on Sunday at 1pm in Templeboy. HARD luck to the Men’s Division 4 team who lost out away to St. Farnan’s in a high scoring encounter finishing 5-17 to 4-12 last Sunday. U-14 Division 1 result: Shamrock Gaels 5-6 Owenmore Gaels 5-10 Well done to the U-14 boys who ground out a win in Coola on Thursday evening. Early on our lads looked like they were suffering the effects of a gruelling weekend in Louth at the Fèile, and were 4 points down at the short whistle. However, the half time team talk from Gary seemed to do the trick as we got to grips with the opposition and eventually secured the 2 points. A good result, all the more impressive considering the lads tough weekend with many of them carrying knocks into the game. THE Owenmore Gaels U12 girls kicked off the championship with an 18-8 loss at home to Tourlestrane on Friday evening. We had a few absentees with it being the holiday season but the thirteen girls that took to the field kept on going until the end as always but were suffering a little bit of a lack of match fitness. Plenty of positives to take from the match as always with this great bunch of girls. Next up we’re at home to Calry/St Joseph’s this coming Friday evening all support is welcome. WELL done to our U8s who travelled to Easkey to compete at the Go Games last Wednesday. A great experience and event to participate in.

THE blotto continues every Sunday night. Your support is greatly appreciated. BALLYMOTE Intermediate team won our club’s first piece of silver ware this year by beating Eastern Harps in the Abbott Cup final in Bunninadden last Sunday. Celebrations were somewhat subdued as half forward Stephen Ross needed to be stretchered off and taken to hospital by ambulance due to a serious concussion. We wish Stephen well in his recovery. Once Niall Brennan, Peter Lyons and Mark Irwin found some space they punished Eastern Harps by scoring 2-7 between in the first 20 mins. Points followed from Stephen Ross and Oisin Conlon and Ballymote led at half time 2-11 to 1-5. Second half Ballymote out played Eastern Harps and with Michael Rafferty and Michael Doddy in control of midfield points followed from Niall Brennan, Peter Lyons and Mark Irwin. Jack Hever replaced the injured Stephen Ross and put this contest beyond doubt with a well taken goal.
