RECENT DEATHS

THE death took place at Rush Nursing Home, Dublin on June 27 in her 100th year of Elizabeth Hannan, née Harrington, Malahide, Dublin and late of Ougham, wife of the late Luke, Kilfree, Gurteen. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday last in Rush Church with burial afterwards in Carrentemp­le Cemetery, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy to her daughter Ailish, son – inlaw David, grandchild­tren, and the Hannan family and friends. May she rest in peace.

THE death took place at her residence on Sunday, July 1, of Joan Coleman Seafield Avenue, Cartron Point, Sligo and late of Carniara, Lavagh. She was sister of Eileen O’Grady, Gurteen Cross and sincere sympathy is extended to Eileen, Christy and the O’Grady family on their bereavemen­t. Sympathy also to her sister Agnes, brothers William and Joseph, sisters-in-law, brothers – in – law, nieces, nephews and a large circle of relations and friends. May she rest in peace.

RECENT BAPTISM

Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism on Saturday week last was Koa Andrew Mannion Smith, son of Linda and Gary Smith and brother to Abigail and Rian.

COMMUNITY OUTING

The annual Gurteen Community Care outing will take place on Wednesday, July 18, to the Allingham Arms Hotel, Bundoran. Cost will be €30 and includes bus, dinner, dancing to the music of Maureen O’Dowd and evening tea. Anyone, who wishes to go should please give their name to Mary Murphy at Gurteen post office by Friday, July 13.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to all who competed in the Community Games County Finals recently. Congratula­tions to Diarmuid Phillips silver medal winner in 60 metres under-6 and to Mila Clancy, who won gold in 100 metres under-10. Best of luck to Mila, who will compete in the national finals in Limerick.

MULLAGHROE NS

Congratula­tions to Mullaghroe NS who won the 2-teacher cumann na mBunscoil competitio­n recently defeating Castlerock NS Well done to all concerned.

SUMMER SEISIUNS

The summer music sessions in Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen commenced on Wednesday, July 3, at 8.30 p.m. and will continue every Wednesday night for the months of July and August. This is a great stage show of traditiona­l music, song and dance. Then on Saturday nights for July and August there is a Junior Session also at 8.30 p.m. organised by Fiona Doherty well known fiddle player and all young musicians are very welcome to come along and join in in a relaxed informal setting. TRAD SESSION

There will be traditiona­l music on Friday nights in the Crossbar Gurteen for the summer from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

CEMETERY MASSES

The annual Mass in Templerona­n Cemetery will be on Sunday, August 5, at 1 p.m. and the annual Mass in Killaraght Old Cemetery will be on August 12 at 1 p.m.

BINGO

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,700 on 47 calls – lotto raffle €700- and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee.
