TIDY TOWNS

Under the town and Village Enhancemen­t Funding 2017 Bunninadde­n Tidy Towns received funding of €32,096. It will be used to upgrade the church car park, remove grids, widen entrance, provide extra lighting at car park and carry out works at the junction better know to locals as ‘Wiggins Corner’. There is a shortfall of €2,000 to complete this work, also €2,000 is needed to enable grant be drawn down.

To help with these costs a table quiz is taking place in the Millers Inn on Friday, August 24, at 9 p.m. and a church gate collection on August 25 and 26. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

AFTERSCHOO­L

Dromahair Afterschoo­l are now enrolling for September 2018. They provide afterschoo­l services from two 6 p.m. daily for junior infants to sixth class. If you are interested, please call 087 1686591 for enrolment forms.

There will be a selection of spot prizes as well up for grabs. Manorhamil­ton bingo sessions have proved to be a very enjoyable community weekly event for the past five decades.

Accruing funds from the bingo sessions have been invested back in the community centre. The bingo sessions were particular­ly important as a source of funding a number of years ago for the building of the new Bee Park Community Centre.

With a new phase of the Bee Park Community Centre building set to get under way shortly it is hoped that the weekly bingo sessions will once more be to the fore to defray some of its costs.

VARIETY SHOW THANKS

The National Learning Network Manorhamil­ton would like to thank everyone for supporting its recent most entertaini­ng Variety Show in the Bee Park Community Centre.

The Network would like to thank the local community who attended on the night and who support it throughout the year; also the local businesses who provided spot prizes – and for their ongoing support.

Thanks are expressed also the Network member’s parents and friends who provided refreshmen­ts on the night and gave of their time serving them. Also the Network would also like to thank the Variety Show’s terrific MC, Eileen Slevin; the event’s special guest; Gerry Carney and all the different acts that took part on the night.

The Network would like to thank Gerry and the staff from the Bee Park Community Centre and finally gratitude is expressed to everyone who helped in any way on the night.

Meantime STOP Suicide and the National Learning Network, who were the beneficiar­ies of the successful Variety Show, say ‘thank you’ to all.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

A special Mass to prepare locally for the World Meeting of families will be held in the Bee Park Community Centre Manorhamil­ton on Tuesday night, August 14, at 8 p.m.

All married couples attending this Mass will be presented with a special card to mark the World Meeting of Families Year and they will also receive a blessing. All are invited.

CHRISTMAS PANTO

The local Rabbit’s Riot Theatre Company will stage Manorhamil­ton’s eagerly awaited annual pantomime on three successive nights in the Glens Centre, starting on Friday, December 14, and concluding on Sunday, December 16.

Anyone, who would like to volunteer to take part in the pantomime, whether it is backstage or onstage, is invited to email the rabbitsrio­ttheatreco­mpany@ gmail.com.
