MEN OF THE WEST

As the names suggests, this trio hail from the west. Pat Coyne from Maam valley in Connemara, is a driving force on guitar and renowned for his powerful songs, singing a mix of ballads and songs from across the Atlantic. Stephen Doherty and David Doocey hail from Foxford, in Co. Mayo. Both have numerous All Ireland titles to their name. Stephen brings Accordion, Flute and Whistle to the group whilst David features on Fiddle and Concertina. All three are full time members of renowned singer Sean Keane’s band, and have toured with various groups and production­s to over twenty five countries in the last fifteen years as profession­al musicians. Men Of The West delivers a mix of high energy tunes in a traditiona­l and contempora­ry style mixed with dynamic songs and airs.

LATE SUMMER CELEBRATIO­N AT MARKREE CASTLE

Join the Hawk’s Well Theatre for a magnificen­t late summer soirée at Markree Castle. HAZELWOOD HAUNTING

The Hazelwood Haunting will return this year on October 27 th to the beautiful Coillte Outdoors forest and will build on the success of last year. The event ‘a terrifying scare in the woods’ will be run over two nights during Halloween. A haunted walk through the dark mysterious Hazelwood forest waits. You will walk with the living dead and all sorts of dark creepy creatures and zombies. You will be scared and frightened. We will play on your fears and give you a trilling experience you will never forget. Be afraid, be very afraid.

FRANKIE’S GUYS

A Celebratio­n of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons presented by Wayne Whelan Production­s comes to the Hawk’s Well on Sunday October 7 th. Following a sold-out run at the Tivoli Theatre in Dublin, this fast-paced, energetic production paying tribute to the legendary music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons returns for a nationwide tour. Putting their charismati­c stamp on timeless classics such as Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, Sherry, and Oh What A Night the boys take you on a nostalgic trip down memory lane and remind you exactly why The Four Seasons sold over 100 million records and earned themselves a place in the prestigiou­s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Fr. Ray Kelly, direct from Britain Got Talent fame will be in concert at Lissadell church on Friday 7 th September at 8pm. DARA O’BRIAIN

Dara O’Briain kicks off this year’s Folk, Roots and Indie Festival Sligo Live. Ó’Briain will perform at Knocknarea Arena on Thursday, 25 th October.

Ó Briain is a stand-up comedian, and television presenter. He is one of the most recognisab­le faces on Irish and British TV, as host of the hugely successful Mock the Week, Star Gazing Live, Robotwars, and Dara Ó Briain’s Go 8 Bit as well as RTÉ 2’s The Panel. Dara is one the few performers to host successful comedy shows in both the UK and his native Ireland at the same time.

He started his career in television as a children’s presenter on RTÉ whilst performing his first stand-up gigs on the Irish comedy circuit, after studying Mathematic­al Physics at University College, Dublin. The rest, as they say, is history.
