Tireragh celebrates Fleadh success
THERE were celebrations in west Sligo after competitors from the small Tireragh CCÉ branch did extremely well at the recent All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Drogheda.
There were a number of competitors from the branch taking part in the Fleadh Cheoil which was held in Drogheda on August 18th and 19 th.
Ceoltoirí Tireragh won 3rd place in the All-Ireland Fleadh and Jason Mc Guinness won the senior fiddle slow air and he came 2nd in the senior fiddle.
A welcome home celebration was held in the Flying Horse when all the competitors arrived back home.
This was a great achievement for all in the area.
There were also musicians from the branch taking part in Groups in Sligo and a senior ceilí band representing Leinster.
The Solo competitors were as follows; Trevor Horan Under 12 Uilleann Pipes; Aisling McGuire Under 15 Whistling; Ellie Cowley Under 12 Comhrá Gaeilge; Jason McGuinness Senior Fiddle and Fiddle Slow Airs.

Naoimh Fearnáin Céilí Band; Clare and Edel Dunne, Lorna McGuinness, Ciara McGee, Ellen McGuire, James Harte, Niamh Harte, Aoife Colleary, Eilish Needham and Ronan Coleman.
Senior Grupa Cheoil- Ceoltoiri Tir- eragh; Deirdre Kilgannon, Damien, Jason and Lorna McGuinness, Laura Flately, Rachel Gilroy, Eabha McGowan, Sinead Harte, Eamonn Kilgannon, Siobhan Foy, and Martin, Grainne and Stephen Mulligan, Joseph and Elizabeth Dunphy, Shauna McGee, Fiachra Guihan, Eileen Barry and Alan Judge. As the competitors arrived back from the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil, a welcome home party was held to congratulate them on their success.
