Wins for St Nathy’s, Harps and Geevagh as ladies championship gets underway
THE Connacht Gold Sligo ladies Championships kicked off on Sunday last with some very entertaining games.
Last year’s Intermediate champions St Mary’s welcomed St Nathy’s to Kent Park, but it was the visitors who came out on top on a score line of 1-08 to 1-03.
Eoghan Rua made the long trip to Keash to take on Eastern Harps but it was the home side who came claimed victory, scoring 11-16 to 3-07.
Defending Senior champions Geevagh hosted St Michael’s on Sunday and they started the defence of their title with a 6-6 to 1-14 win.
In the Connacht Gold Intermediate Championship, Owenmore Gaels made the trip to south Sligo to take on Tourlestrane.
But they met a much stronger team in Tourlestrane the home side winning out on a score line of 7- 22 to 3-0 3.
Last year’s beaten finalists Drumcliffe made a trip to Tubbercurry to take on CT Gaels.
But it was the South Sligo side that came out on top on a score-line 2-15 to Drumcliffe 4-06.
Junior champions from 2017 Coolera got off to a winning start in the Intermediate Championship with a three point victory over Calry/ St Joseph’s.
In the Connacht Gold Junior Championship, Curry travelled to Templeboy to take on St Farnan’s.
They came away with all the points, defeating their rivals 3 -11 to 1-9.
While Shamrock Gaels welcomed St Molaise Gaels to Coola on Sunday morning.
