COMMUNITY GAMES
Well done to all the Riverstown competitors and volunteers who represented Sligo at the recent Community Games national finals weekend in Limerick. Congratulations to the Mixed under-12 Skittles team, Maebh Harte, Steven Smith, Seán Kelly, Jack Brehony and Shane Jinks, who came home with Silver medals. Congratulations also to Oisin Conlon, who got a fourth Place Medal in boys’ under-14 Cycling on Grass. Overall it was an extremely successful weekend not only for Riverstown but for Sligo county.
THANK YOU
It is with great pride that the hospice announced on Saturday night that €12,587.40 was collected between the Envelopes and raffle on the night. A sincere ‘Thank you’ to the people of Ballintogher, Ballygawley, Castlebaldwin and Riverstown, who gave so generously to this worthy cause.
Thanks to our helpers who delivered envelopes and those who allowed bucket collection, the raffle sponsors, John Ryan sound, Seán McDermott and all who helped and contributed to this worthy cause. A few more envelopes have been submitted, and if there are any more to be collected, please make it known to or deliver to Committee Members by next week.
This team was George Barlow, Brian Dwyer, Owen Elding, James Foley, Ciaran Kenny, Niall Kenny, Ryan Parke and Sam Tuohy. A huge achievement for the team and their coaches who all worked extremely hard. Best of luck to them all as they head to the national finals in August.
REGISTRATION EVENING
Registration for Traditional Irish Music Classes for children and adults will take place on Friday, August 31, from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in the Morrison Cottage, Riverstown. Registration will not be accepted after this date. Season runs from September 2018 to June 2019. Classes include Guitar (Monday), Keyboard, Bridge Card Game (Tuesday), Adult Yoga (Wednesday), Speech and Drama (Thursday), Tin Whistle, Flute, Fiddle, Banjo, Button Accordion (Friday), Bodhrán, Harp, Concertina, Traditional Singing Eng/Irish (Saturday), sean nós Dancing (Sunday).
Come along and meet all the tutors, they will answer any questions you have about classes/ instruments.
