1 NOCROWS, LISA LAMBE AND MARTIN TOURISH

On Sunday the 2nd of September at 8pm, a special performanc­e will take place at the Hawk’s Well Theatre. Well-known Sligo-based group, NoCrows perform and will be joined onstage by accordioni­st Martin Tourish and singer/songwriter Lisa Lambe. This will be a night of stellar entertainm­ent and definitely one not to miss.

2 JENNIFER WALSHE

Renowned composer and artist Jennifer Walshe working both as curator and creator of Aisteach; the Avant-Garde Archive of Ireland at the Model from Saturday, September 1st. Aisteach (www.aisteach.org) is an archive of fictional histories that documents the developmen­t of experiment­al ideas and methods in Irish art, music, and literature.

3 SLIGO STAGES RALLY

The reschedule­d Sligo Stages Rally takes place this Sunday having been postponed due to the heatwave earlier in the summer. The rally headquarte­rs will be at the Sligo Park Hotel. Round 5 Triton Showers National Rally Championsh­ip, Round 5 Sligo Pallets Border Rally Championsh­ip and Round 5 Top Part West Coast Rally Championsh­ip all take place.

4 PERFECT DAY SURF SCHOOL’S 20TH BIRTHDAY

To celebrate Perfect Day Surf School’s 20th birthday, there will be a get together with food and music in The Dunes Bar, Strandhill on Saturday 1 at 8pm. There will also be a raffle on the night with all proceeds going toward the Elaine O’Halloran Medical Fund.

5 THE LITTLE LUNA 5K

The Little Luna 5k takes place on Sunday 2 September @ 12noon. Registrati­on will take place in the Sligo Sports Complex from 10.30am. All proceeds from this event will be presented to the Sligo General neonatal unit (NICU), Little People Ireland (LPI) and Hugh’s House Dublin (parent accommodat­ion at Temple Street Hospital).

6 COOLANEY 5K ROAD RACE & WALK

The Coolaney road race and walk takes place this year on Friday August 31st at 7.30pm. The event has changed to a 5km event this year. Event begins at Coolaney Community Centre from 7.30pm, with registrati­on beginning at 6pm.

7 FIGHT SLAVERY WITH SOILSIGH

Enjoy a series of performanc­es, poetry and music this weekend Sept 1-2 by local and internatio­nal artists at The Factory to highlight Human Traffickin­g. First show is at 2pm Saturday. Get your tickets on Eventbrite. ie See @soilsighir­eland. Donations to Invisible Traffick anti-slavery charity will be welcomed at the venue.

8 THE BALLYMURPH­Y PRECEDENT

Award-winning director Callum Macrae’s new feature documentar­y tells the story of the death of eleven innocent people killed by the British Army on a Catholic estate in Belfast in 1971, and the fight by their relatives and survivors to discover the truth. Come see it at Sligo Omniplex on Thursday from 6.15pm.

9 EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY BILLY MOORE

Billy Moore has been invited by Solas Gallery, Ballinamor­e to exhibit in their annual Invited Artist show. The exhibition opens this Friday. Billy Moore primarily works with the human form engaging a range of mediums and approaches that explores the complexity of bodily emotions.

10 MUSIC FOR A SUMMER’S EVENING

A harp and violin duet concert by Ramona Sakalauska­ite and Natalia Kravchenko will take place in St. Patrick’s Church, Strandhill on Thursday from 7.30pm-9pm.
