A spe­cial me­mo­rial run, in mem­ory of the late James Feely, Tub­bertelly, will take place next Sun­day, Septem­ber 16, at 12.30 p.m. The event base is St Nathy’s Hall Mul­linabreena and all trac­tors, bikes and vin­tage cars are wel­come. Re­fresh­ments be­fore and af­ter with an ex­cel­lent raf­fle on re­turn. All pro­ceeds to­wards the Ir­ish Heart Foun­da­tion and a defibrillator at Nace O’Dowd Park. Any­one in­ter­ested in par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Phoenix Play­ers’ forth­com­ing pro­duc­tion of the Sound of mu­sic is in­vited to come along to an open evening in St Brigid’s Hall on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 13, at 8.30 p.m. Ac­tors, singers, dancers and back­stage crew are needed. Au­di­tions for chil­dren’s parts will be held at a later date.


Con­grat­u­la­tions to Coolaney-Mul­linabreena GAA Club, who re­ceived a Re­gional Na­tional Lottery Good Causes 2018 award for Sport re­cently. This fol­lows the Sligo County award. The award is in recog­ni­tion of the de­vel­op­ment work at Nace O’Dowd Park. The club now goes on to the na­tional fi­nals in Novem­ber in Dublin. Well done and good luck.

Af­ter al­most seven months of work on the project, over 2000 photos have now been col­lected. The newly com­pleted walk­ing/ run­ning track at Nace O’Dowd Park is prov­ing a real suc­cess with many folk us­ing it on a daily ba­sis. It is con­tribut­ing hugely to the health and well-be­ing of our com­mu­nity in a real and sus­tain­able way. The club is cur­rently in­ves­ti­gat­ing means to fund the in­stal­la­tion of light­ing for the track. The club con­tin­ues its ap­peal for fence sign spon­sors at the park.
