O’Hara very proud of team workrate

DELIGHTED Tourlestrane joint manager Eamonn O’Hara was full of praise after his side’s historic three-in-a-row victory in Quigabar on Sunday.

The former Sligo All-Star said: “This is probably the first time that we have mentioned three-in-a-row in the group.

“I know everyone outside it was talking around it but that’s just the circumstances, we were just taking one game at a time and I am just so proud of the bunch of lads.

“They are unbelievable and in management you ask lads to do something and sometimes plans go well and sometimes they don’t go well but this group of fellas just keep going to the well year in year out.

“They keep putting in the performances and you know we had luck along the way. But every year we’ve had luck along the way so we have taken it and come out on top again which is brilliant,” the Tourlestrane man explained.

He added: “Tubbercurry cut us open early doors and could have got a goal but we had contingency plans and we always talked about the things like if we concede a goal early or concede a couple of points not to panic and I think the experience of winning for the last couple of years is always good and it stands to you.

“The lads just composed themselves and they chipped away against a strong breeze even though it changed slightly and they kept chipping away and they took control of the game and we never relinquished it.

“The boys are very, very good and comfortable in possession of the ball and when you’re playing on the front foot and holding on to a lead it is always easier.

“We made Tubbercurry work that little bit harder and you know they matched us at times and they caused us trouble at times but we are just so happy to get through it,” Eamonn added.

He said goalscorer Cian Surlis was outstanding.

“I am so proud of him and he comes from great pedigree and I am just happy for his family and for everyone who put their shoulders to the wheel and the credit needs to go to the underage group who are putting through these young fellas and allowing us to work with them and put our faith in them and we have got Cian and Kevin there who have probably played the most football so just happy and so proud of them.”

Eamonn said regarding their next game in Connacht, the possibility of playing it in Tourlestrane will be massive.

“The thing with Markievicz out it is home advantage so you don’t want to relinquish that and we know Sligo County Board will fight for us on that and if we can get it in Tourlestrane it would be nice,” he added.

Back to Sunday and it was all about celebrating this Tourlestrane team and their historic three-ina-row and what it meant to their large group of fans really said it all in Enniscrone.
