SAD DEATH

The Recent tragic death occurred of Sharon Walsh McCann, Late of Highfield, and Charlestow­n Road, Tubbercurr­y. Aged 47, Sharon was a native of Tubbercurr­y and was educated in the Marist Convent. A daughter of Paddy Joe and the late Maureen Walsh, Sharon was very close to her mum and found the loss of her mum very difficult. Sharon was a kind and generous lady, who adored her children, and was very supportive of her siblings. Sharon wrote poetry, did creative writing and was a volunteer with St Vincent de Paul Society. She had her own challenges in life, and often found it difficult to cope. Share was loved by her extended family and her friends and neighbours and she always tried to brighten the lives of those she knew.

Her remains reposed at her home in Highfield, where huge numbers called to pay their respects to Sharon and her family, a testimony to the esteem in which she was held within the community. Funeral Mass took place in the Church of St John Evangelist, Tubbercurr­y, and burial took place in Rhue Cemetery.

She is survived by her loving family, including daughters Kayleigh and Leah, son Oisin, their dad James, granddaugh­ter Nara, son-in-law Marc, dad Paddy Joe, sister Cathy, brothers Karl, Michael, Frankie and Patrick, in laws, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles cousins and friends. May Sharon rest gently in peace.

RECENT DEATH

The Recent death occurred of Maurice Conboy, late of Carrowreag­h Knox, Tubbercurr­y. Aged just 44, Maurice had been ill over the last few years, an illness he bore with great dignity and courage. Maurice was a native of Ballymote town, but since moving to Carrowreag­h Knox on marrying local girl Ger Powell, he immersed himself in his new community and became a great community activist. An electricia­n by trade, he was especially active in the Cloonacool GAA club, the Cloonacool Drama Society and Car Rallying. He was also very much a family man and great dad to Gerard and Patrice, and great husband to Ger. His remains reposed at his home prior to removal for funeral Mass at St Michael’s Church, Cloonacool. Burial took place in Cloonacool Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Ger, son Gerard, daughter Patrice, parents Paddy and Eileen, sisters Helen, Monica and Nicola, mother-in-law Margaret Powell, inlaws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and large circle of friends. May he rest in Peace.

ACHONRY/ MULLINABRE­ENA PHOTO EXHIBITION.

A very interestin­g photo exhibition will take place at St Nathy’s Hall Mullinabre­ena over the bank holiday weekend in October on the 28th and 29th from 12.30 p.m. 6.30 p.m. This exhibition includes thousands of photograph­s collected from locals, of people and events spanning the last 100 years in the parish of Achonry/Mullinabre­ena.

CLOONACOOL CHURCH RENOVATION FUNDRAISER

St Michael’s Church Cloonacool finance committee, are running a fundraiser to boost renovation funds in Cloonacool Community Centre on Friday night, October 19, next at 8 p.m. The Swinford Players drama group will present their play entitled ‘’For Better, For Worse’’ a three-act comedy written by playwright Jimmy Keary. It is a follow on from last year’s production which had the audience in howls of laughter all night, and sent everyone home with a smile on their face. This production is guaranteed to be equally as entertaini­ng.

TUBBERCURR­Y FRC PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP
