Man-of-the-match Marren looks forward to another chance

-

HAVING scored ten of his side’s points man-of-the-match Adrian Marren said he is glad they have another chance on Sunday. “Look it we left it late, anytime we came back to level they went 2 or 3 points up again, they couldn’t finish us off and we couldn’t finish them off. It just shows how tight the two teams are and there is probably not going to be anything separating us the next day. A draw was probably a fair result in the end,” the Curry man said.

“It was really open it was like ye score we score kind of. The defending was out the window, we shut them out a couple of times down there, we turned them over but we didn’t keep that scoreboard ticking enough maybe.

“We had a couple of chances for a goal or 2 in the first half and maybe a penalty shout but look that’s the way it goes. We didn’t get a goal today which is disappointing but it just didn’t happen today.

“Towards the end, we pushed up on their kick outs and we won a couple of great balls and it kept us going and we got the handy few frees at the end to level it up.”

“Shamrock Gaels average age is a lot younger than us, we are heading towards the pension age but we will have to keep going now!”

Adrian had 2 brothers on the team, Jason and Stephen and two of his sisters also featured the same day for Curry ladies who won the County Final. So it was a big day overall for the Marren household with sister Therese scoring 2-4 in the final.

“They (the ladies) had a big win. There was a big push to get 3 Cups home today but hopefully next week we might return the favour.

“I will probably not hear the last of it now for the next few days!,” he laughed.
