ST. FARNAN’S
OUR under 21 team enjoyed a good win in their second game of the B championship when they defeated Geevagh/ St. Michael’s by 5-15 to 2-7 in Templeboy on Saturday morning.
THIS was a much improved performance from the team with a good number of players finding themselves on the scoreboard. The team got a great start with fine points from both Iarla O’Connor and Mark Devaney before Geevagh/ St. Michael’s took the lead with a well worked goal from Ryan Walsh.
THIS lead was short lived as St. Farnan’s added a number of points to lead by 0-10 to 1-3. Ryan Walsh added a second goal to reduce the margin.
A goal from Gavin Connolly , however widened the gap as we led 1-11 to 2-3.
AFTER the break a second goal from James Weir meant that St. Farnan’s were beginning to control the game and there would only be one outcome.
ST. Farnan’s added all their substitutes in this half as they headed for victory.
THIS was a real team effort with the players making the most of their scoring chances. The team was Kieran Devaney, David Hallinan, Fergal Ryan, Shane O’ Brien, James Weir (1-2), Cahán Hallinan, Gavin Connolly (1-0), Kevin Mc Gee (0-1), Niall Crean, Finnian Cawley’(0-7(3f), Mark Devaney (1-1), Iarla O’Connor (1-2), Gavin Calpin (1-2(1f). Subs used: Patrick Flynn, Simon Mullarkey, Oisin Connolly, Ronan Molloy, Sean Hallinan.

OUR annual La na gClub Family Day took place on Sunday last. There were matches for Boys and Girls from U6 to U12, a hurling exhibition games and the launch of “The Great Balloon Race”.The weather looked dodgy early morning but that didn’t deter the Cailini as our underage Girls took to the Pitch at 10.00am sharp. THAT set the tone for a superbly organised and entertaining morning /afternoon of football and hurling with Shields and Cups won and lost.
ART Competition winners were announced and the official launching of Monsignor Hynes Park as a Smoke Free Zone brought a different dimension to the Day. THIS year an exhibition of hurling was a new feature of the Day. Finally a hardcore of coaches tallied the numbers of Players available and wisely decided to reduce the size of the Pitch for the Coaches exhibition game.
FAIR play to these stalwarts. They continue to ignore the passage of time and it’s impact on both their skill levels and energy levels. Long may the tradition continue. SO many people to thank for another great Club Day. The Hoey, Gilmartin, Gillen and Herron Families whose Cups were presented on the day. Charlie Brady for recording the highlights of the event.
THE other Charlie for his organisation of the Day and pulling the whole thing together and compering the Presentations, Paul Healy and team for the preparation of the pitches,
OUR Minor Boys and Girls, Amy, Ethan, Robbie and Lauren who presented the Medals to our young Players. The Hardworking Kitchen Team and all those Parents who prepared the food, henry and Nuala on the Burger stall, our Club Chairman Sean for his contribution as MC, the Pitch Co-ordinators, Referees, Managers, all the Mammies, Daddies, Grannies and Grandfathers for coming out Sunday and supporting their own, the Children themselves who are a credit to our Club.

TOURLESTRANE
IT’S certainly been a great week in the club following on from the ladies county title and the senior men’s 3-in-a-row, the triple was secured by a mighty minor lads team who showed great heart and a will to win attitude throwing everything at it in a splendid second half performance having gone in mid way trailing by a point to Tubbercurry (5 points to 1/3) The lads broke away scoring 3 goals and another 7 points after the obvious pep talk by Neil and Eamon at the break to finish 3/12 to Tubbercurry’s 1/4. WHAT a sweet victory to add the third county title in the week and well done to all. It was not to be the case 2 nights later for our u21 lads who lost out to Easkey/ EnniscroneKilglass.
THE ladies had little time to relish the county win of last Saturday before they braved the Wild West to face hosts Cill Chomain in Belmullet Saturday at 1 o clock and to rapturous applause and the roar of the many hardy supporters who travelled out to the finest display of football this year to quote one of the crowd the girls cruised home to book themselves a place in the Connacht Final in 3 weekstime ! Well done to the team and David Enda and Leo and thank you to all who travelled out support them . WE wish the best of luck to our minor lads who play their Connacht Quarter final next Friday night v Ballinamore/Sean O Heslins at 7pm in the Connacht centre of excellence .
