1 SLIGO LIVE

Now in it’s 14th year, Sligo Live celebrates folk roots and indie music on the last weekend in October. Since 2005 the festival has highlighte­d Sligo’s vibrant contempora­ry music scene and rich musical heritage intermingl­ed with internatio­nal stars. Kicking off today (Tuesday) there is a huge range of events taking place until Monday. The full schedule is available from sligolive.ie.

2 DARA O’BRIAIN

Comedian Dara O’Briain brings his ‘Voice of Reason’ tour to the Knocknarea Arena as part of Sligo Live, this Thursday. He is one of the most recognisab­le faces on British and Irish TV, as host of the hugely successful Mock The Week, Star Gazing Live, Robotwars, and Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit, as well as RTÉ 2’s The Panel. 3 LISA HANNIGAN

Lisa Hannigan kicks off a series of concerts celebratin­g indie women at the Hawk’s Well Theatre which will take place over three nights as part of this year’s Sligo Live Festival. She’ll be on stage at the Hawk’s Well this Friday, from 8pm.

4 BOOMTOWN RATS

Legendary rockers ‘Boomtown Rats’ headline Sligo Live in the Knocknarea Arena on October 27th. They will mainly play music from their first three albums, so fans can look forward to the old favourites. All festival informatio­n is available on the website, sligolive.ie.

5 BOOTLEG BEATLES

The Bootleg Beatles are the world’s premiere Beatles Band. They continue to draw critical acclaim from across the globe with their stunning recreation of the greatest songbook of all time. They’ve played Glastonbur­y. Next stop is a prestigiou­s concert with the Royal Liverpool Philharmon­ic Orchestra. They will be at the Knocknarea Arena this Sunday.

6 SEAMUS O’ROURKE & THANK YOU

Seamus O’Rourke joins forces with director Charles McGuinness and once again you can expect a bit of everything. And thank you… is a play about an ordinary man living in rural Ireland who gets saved… Saved from a life of pub talk and prophesisi­ng. Going to the Gents so often can wear a man out. At Castle Dargan Hotel this Sunday.

7 THE HAZELWOOD HAUNTING

The Hazelwood Haunting will return this year to the beautiful Coillte Outdoors forest and will build on the success of last year. The event ‘a terrifying scare in the woods’ will be run over two nights during Halloween. Book your tickets at www.carnsschoo­l.com

8 ARTIST TALK: ANNA SPEARMAN

Anna Spearman, the recipient of The Model Cara Award 2017, will deliver an artist talk this Thursday in The Foyer Gallery at The Model as part of her residency at The Model. All welcome.

9 TRAD@LUNCH

Join the Hawk’s Well Theatre for a mid-week musical treat featuring the exemplary banjo, box and piano playing skills of three members of the award-winning Knocknashe­e Ceili Band. Theresa O’Grady and Daithi Gormley both recently released exceptiona­l debut albums and are joined in this very special Trad@Lunch for Sligo Live by Catherine McHugh on piano, this Thursday from 1.10pm.

10 CHARLIE MCGETTIGAN, BRENDAN EMMETT & GERRY GRENNAN

Original members of the group Jargon (Charlie McGettigan, Brendan Emmett & Gerry Grennan) re-unite for a night of folk and bluegrass tunes in Thomas Connolly’s in conjunctio­n with Sligo Live Festival on Saturday the 27th of October with tunes from 10:00pm.
