Drivers are fined for offences

AT Sligo District Court on Thursday, Bernard Sweeney (43) of Alma Terrace Finisklin Road was fined €100 for not having tax on February 4 th 2018 at Caltragh.

Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor, represented him.

Martin O’Loughlin (24) of Drumatumpher, Mountcharles, Co Donegal, was fined €300 and disqualified from driving for 2 years for no insurance on January 22nd 2018 at Markievicz Road. He had a previous conviction for no insurance, the court heard.

Ms Laura Spellman solicitor (defending) said her client had been abroad and was a named driver on a policy which had run out 2 days before he was stopped by gardaí. He thought he was insured until the end of January. Judge Kevin Kilrane told him he had used his chance and fined and disqualified him for two years.
