Enniscrone GC launches centenary history book

-

IT was a historic weekend for Enniscrone Golf Club as the west Sligo club launched its Centenary History, Sand Sea and Sunsets: 100 Years of Enniscrone Golf Club.

This 150-page hard-back publication was produced by club members Cathal Mullaney (author) and Albie O’Connor (research), and was expertly designed by award-winning designer Siobhan Foody.

At a packed clubhouse on Sunday evening last, club members young and old reminisced on times past as the official launch took place. In attendance were Mr Jim McGovern, President-Elect of the GUI, Mr Michael Heaney Chairperson of Connacht Golf and Mrs Jackie Maxwell, Chairperson Connacht ILGU.

All three guests com- mended the club on its centenary year, while other speakers included Enniscrone GC captain Mr Sean Brogan, Enniscrone GC Centenary Committee convenor Mr Peter Murphy, the club’s longest serving member Mr Jack Kennedy who joined in 1952 and wrote the book foreword, and Mr Cathal Mullaney, author of the book.

The evening was a wonderful success, and the club now looks forward to the next chapter.

The book ‘Sand, Sea and Sunsets: 100 Years of Enniscrone Golf Club’ is now available from Enniscrone Golf Club, or online at www. enniscronegolf.com. It retails at €25 (excluding postage and packaging).
