Avalon Centre PARENT/TODDLER GROUP
Little Buddies, our Little Buddies Parent and toddler group has returned after the mid-term break.
The group meets on Monday and Friday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome. There is always a warm welcome with tea, coffee and refreshments provided. €3 per family.
PRESCHOOL/AFTERSCHOOL
Our Bright Minds Preschool and Afterschool have also resumed. The Preschool operates from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and the Afterschool from 1.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, September-June. Bright Minds are providers of the ECCE and Community Childcare Subvention Schemes, offering free Preschool spaces and subsidised Afterschool spaces for eligible families.

SOCIAL DAY CENTRE
Our social day centre provides older adults with improved quality of life through opportunities for socialising and lifelong learning. It runs four days per week, Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Contact the centre for further details. The programme is funded by the HSE and by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
BINGO
Bingo continues every Friday night from 9á€=AFp.m. to 11á€=AFp.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night.
BOWLING
The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets every Wednesday from 11á€=AFa.m. to 1á€=AFp.m. at the centre. All are welcome-just call in on the day.
DANCE CLASSES
Our Hip Hop dance classes run on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for seven- to 12-yearolds. For more information, please contact the centre at 071 9161836.
YOUTH CLUBS
Our Junior and Senior Youth Clubs have also resumed after the mid-term break. The Junior Club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Senior Youth Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
PHYSIO-LED PILATES
Physio-led pilates classes run on Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contact the Avalon Centre at 071 9161836 for more details.
SELF-DEFENCE CLASSES

Carraroe ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of Carraroe and District Regeneration Association will take place on Tuesday, November 13, in Fr Curley Room Community Centre at 7 p.m. All residents, friends and members including, all involved Tidy Town, Text Alert, CPR, Seniors Alert Scheme are invited to attend. Please keep the date free and looking forward to seeing everyone supporting.
CONTRIBUTION TO CARRAROE
We appreciate the financial allocation by Cllr Séamus Kilgannon towards progressing the plan to provide warning measures to assist reduce speeding on our roads. We have also been advised garda speed patrols will be increased in the area.
GARDA APPEAL
Sligo Gardaí are appealing to all residents in the area that may have any information re the serious aggravated burglary that took place on one of our local residents to come forward to assist them. Please keep a look out for all our elderly neighbours to ensure they are safe this winter.
25 CARD GAME
Cadra in partnership with St John’s GAA Club organise the regular game of progressive 25 which takes place in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Winners on 11 games were Tony McGuerin/Tony Maguire, Runners-up on nine games were John Callaghan/Brian Foley, Tony O’Loughlin/Seán Harte, Séamus Devaney/Séamus Scanlon. Looking forward to seeing all our regular players. New inexperienced players are always welcome. Usual jackpot and prizes on the night. All proceeds go to local projects in the community.
Development of Carraroe Area Carraroe and District Regeneration Association has written to each elected county councillor and TD requesting individual meeting be arranged with our committee executive to discuss an agenda of issues requiring assistance into the future. We will keep the community updated on progress.
BE SAFE BE SEEN
Cadra advises people walking or working around our community to wear HiViz to ensure you can be seen. We will have a supply of free HiViz available from any member of committee.
LAKEVIEW GUILD ICA.
The guild meet on the first Tuesday of the month in Carraroe Community Centre at 8 p.m. New members always welcome-for further information contact Mary at 086 3755894. The next meeting will be held in Carraroe Community Centre tonight November 6 at 8 p.m. There will be a guest speaker on the night from Sligo Credit Union. The money for the Christmas party will be collected at the meeting. The art classes continue on Thursdays at 2 p.m. in the community centre. The Co Sligo federation meeting will be held in the Northside Community Centre on Wednesday, November 21, at 8 p.m. hosted by the Sligo Town Guild.
FIDDLE LESSONS
Carraroe national school is looking for someone in the parish area to help train boys and girls to learn the fiddle. Classes are planned during school time. Please contact the school for further information.
ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

Classes by all-Ireland Champion Dancer Ryan Sheridan continue on Friday, November 9, ,November 16, November 23, November 30 in Carraroe Community Centre. Beginner Classes from 6 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Intermediate Classes from 7 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration on the night 30 minutes before start of each class. Extract from the IBAL report ‘Approach from Junction at R287: Grade B This route leading into Sligo was somewhat littered with sweet papers, fast-food wrappers and coffee cups very much in evidence. The road surface and markings were in good condition.’.
We have noted this road into Sligo is highlighted and reduced our grade which is a disappointment. We will be examining how we can prevent this location reducing our ratings in the future.

Merville Centre Host various activities in the centre hall. Merville Active Age is on Tuesday nights from 7.30 p.m. with a busy schedule up to the Christmas Period planned. Five Fist Kung Fu is on Fridays at 6 p.m. Piloxing with Amanda is on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. The Popular Circuit Training with Ruairi continues on Mondays and Thursdays from 7.15 p.m.

Dreamchasers Childcare Service at Merville provide a Community Based School Age Childcare (SAC) service. Daily Collections (A Walking Bus) from Scoil Ursula and Gael Scoil are provided.
