Castlerea Mart Market Report

A LARGE entry of stock presented for sale this week which included an entry of 6 Continental cows with Continental calves at foot. The cows were due March onwards to AI Ch Bull , prices ranged from €2920 to €4160 with an average prices of €3441 paid. These prices provided a confidence booster to the much battered suckler section. The heifer and cow trade reported good clearances this week, while the weanling rings reported increased farmer activity this week with prices strengthened for the quality calves. Sample prices:

Cows with calves at foot made from €900 to €4160 per head. Springers made form €820 to €1980 per head Calves/Runners: Young calves sold from €200 to €220 with runners making from €300 to €755 for the continental type lots on offer.
