COLLOONEY and Ballisodare are two busy towns situated on the outskirts of Sligo town.

Collooney is located just off the N4 and N17, and is the meeting point of the two roads.

It is the home of the Mill Falls - a breathtaking waterfall and one of the county’s best kept

secrets, framing an extraordinary backdrop to the bustling town of Collooney.

There is plenty of history within both Collooney and Ballisodare - with the former well known for being the home of the old Inishfree Crystal building, among many other

historic buildings. The Teeling Monument is located just outside the town, on the old road to Sligo.

It was once the home of three train stations, and is now one of the stops along the busy

Sligo to Dublin route. Ballisodare is also situated along the Owenmore River, about seven kilometres South of Sligo town. The photogenic Ox Mountains lie at the back of the town. Ballisodare Bay is just on the outskirts of the town, and is a huge attraction for those with an interest in fishing, with herds of fishing enthusiasts travelling to the village throughout the fishing season to catch some of the best salmon in the country.

Once the home of the Pollexfen Mills, the village also boasts a hydro electric power station.
