The Sligo Champion

Metalman returns with a new format

-

THE Metalman Swim Series is back on Saturday 8th June this year for the 11th edition of this popular Rosses Point event.

Entry opens on www.metalmanswimseries.com on Tuesday 5th February.

The event has sold out in less than 24 hours in the last three years, so don’t hang about if you intend to take part.

In a change to previous years’ formats, the event will take place over one day.

Swimmers will chose from a 1km, 2km or 3km swim which caters for all from the newcomer to the seasoned athlete.

Next up is the exciting addition of a new mixed-relay event which all swimmers are eligible to take part in and promises to be great fun.

In what is believed to be a first for open water swimming in Ireland, an eliminator event will be run as the closing swim of the day.

Multiple short swims will be ran in quick succession with swimmers eliminated each time until only the winner remains.

Prize giving with hot food and refreshments will take place in Har- ry’s Bar, Rosses Point afterwards.

A swim workshop will be running at event sponsors Call of the Wild on the 3rd of April which all swimmers and members of the public are welcome to attend, which is free of charge. Local company Core Timing will provide chip timing and swimmers will receive a custom t-shirt and swim hat. Entry opens on February 5th on www.metalmanswimseries.com
